Jul 2006 - Attaching files to Outlook Email messages

Thanks for your feedback last month. Lots of you loved it! And I’m pleased to say that no-one, and I mean no-one, knew all of them.

Here is this month's Tip or Trick, and don’t forget, if you already know it you can give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back!

You all know how to attach files in Outlook don't you? You just click on the paper clip and you are presented with a window to browse to find your file. When you find it, you select it and click on "insert".

If you want to, you can just double click on the file and it will insert for you.

Here’s a neat trick, next time you want to attach a file do this. Open Outlook, then click on the Windows Start key (bottom left of the screen) and open My Documents (or wherever your file is stored). Make sure the window is not covering the left hand side of Outlook. Then drag the file straight to the Inbox in the Navigation pane on the left hand side. You will get an email with the file attached and the subject will be the name of the file and you’re all ready to go.
