Nov 2006 - Customising toolbar button images in Office applications

I thought because it's getting near to Christmas I would send out a fun tip. This will brighten up your time at the screen. Did you know that you can change the images for your shortcut buttons? Instead of having a picture of a Printer you can have a Smiley Face. You can change the Format Painter Brush into a Red Heart.

Click on View, select Toolbars and Customize… While this window is open you can then right click the button you want to change. If you select Change Button Image you will see lots of different images. Just pick one and your image will be changed.

You can also Edit the Button Image. For example if you pick the Smiley Face you can then edit it to have a red nose. Quite appropriate for Christmas!

Don't worry if you get yourself in a muddle you can always revert back to the original button by selecting Reset.
